Hopefully you’ve been keeping your sprinkler controller in the “OFF” position with all the rain we’ve been receiving - make sure to keep it off with more rain in our forecast! Not sure when to turn sprinklers on? Sign up for WaterMyYard.org to know when and how long to water.
What is Water My Yard?
WaterMyYard.org provides a recommendation on how long to run your sprinklers each week. This recommendation is based on local weather data along with science-based understanding of plant water needs. Simply create a free account and enter information about your sprinkler system and you’ll receive a customized plan for how long to water each week – provided in minutes of runtime. In 2025, WaterMyYard.org recommended watering only 20 weeks during the whole year!
Install a rain/freeze sensor to your system will also help you save water by turning off your sprinklers when we’ve received enough rain or when temperatures dip below freezing. Here’s how to install a wireless rain/freeze sensor.
