Fix a Leak Week

March 17 - 23 is Fix-a-Leak Week, sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  EPA estimates that the average household wastes approximately 10,000 gallons of water every year because of leaks. During Fix-a-Leak Week, EPA, Upper Trinity, and other partners around the country will be encouraging residents to check fixtures and appliances for leaks and make the necessary repairs - - saving water and money.

Test Your Soil Before You Fertilize

Do you know how much and what type of fertilizer to use?  Without a soil test, you don’t!  Before buying that expensive bag of fertilizer, make sure to collect several soil samples and have it tested to find out exactly how much and what type of fertilizer is needed.  Find out more about soil testing at the Take Care of Texas website, and consider using organic fertilizer instead to make a positive impact to the environment!

Congrats to Jarrod Stevens!

Jarrod Stevens, Harpool Water Treatment Plant Senior Operator, received the “Robert O. Vernoon Membrane Plant Operator of the Year” Award from the American Membrane Technology Association!  Congratulations to Jarrod Stevens for his well-deserved recognition.

Doe Branch Plant Expansion

Construction has started at the Doe Branch Water Reclamation Plant, near the Savannah community, to expand wastewater treatment capacity from 4 million-gallons-per-day (MGD) to 12 MGD. The expansion is necessary to keep up with the growth of the communities it serves, which are the City of Celina, Elm Ridge WCID, Town of Prosper and Mustang Special Utility District.

Lake Ralph Hall Featured in TPWD Magazine

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine featured Lake Ralph Hall in a recent article describing how TPWD staff have coordinated with Upper Trinity to build habitat in the lake prior to filling with water.  TPWD have built numerous structures that will be utilized by bass and other fish species for shelter and spawning.
