Worried About Your Foundation?
The heavy clay soils in North Texas are known for shifting as soil moisture levels change throughout the year, which can damage your home’s foundation. To keep the soil around your foundation watered, don’t run your sprinklers more often. Instead, use a dedicated drip line or soaker hose that can be attached to an outdoor faucet. Drip irrigation, soaker hoses and hand watering are not subject to the two-day-per-week watering schedule and can be operated more frequently.
A good rule of thumb is to water when the soil begins pulling away from the foundation. Water until the soil is completely saturated and as frequently as needed. To learn more, check out our Water Talk on drip irrigation and find more water-saving tips at WaterLessYall.com !
